Engine maintenance - CO emissions check-|
Engine emissions checks performed on a weekly basis can help ensure that miners are not exposed to potentially harmful levels of toxic gases. MSHA has established regulations in §75.1914(g) requiring these weekly checks for certain categories of equipment. We have assembled information that can be helpful to mine operators in performing these tests. Best Practices have been developed for performing these tests on different types of vehicles (those with torque converter transmissions and those with hydrostatic transmissions), baseline CO and CO2 emissions are provided, and a NIOSH report is referenced for background information on this test.
