Part 36 scrubber water level Indicator-|
Most Part 36 machines use water scrubbers to cool the engine's exhaust gas before it leaves the machine. This helps prevent fires and explosions. Only a limited amount of water is carried on a machine so the water has to be frequently replenished or the machine is designed to automatically shutdown. Currently there are no gages or other indicators to alert the operator when the water is nearing the machine's water shutdown level. MSHA has developed a system that will monitor the water level and flash the machine's headlights before the low water shutdown level is reached. This will allow the operator to move the machine to a convenient location for the scrubber to be refilled rather than taking the risk that the machine will shutdown and interfere with production.
