30 CFR § 45.1
Scope and purpose.
This part sets forth information requirements and procedures for independent
contractors to obtain an MSHA identification number and procedures for
service of documents upon independent contractors. Production-operators are
required to maintain certain information for each independent contractor at
the mine. The purpose of this rule is to facilitate implementation of MSHA's
enforcement policy of holding independent contractors responsible for
violations committed by them and their employees.
