Roof Support Jacks

Printer Friendly Version
Safety Something YOU can live with!

It's a common task for miners to set jacks or dukes to support the roof. But there can be a hazard from a piece of rock falling when a miner releases the pressure and removes the jack.

A safety tip is to release and remove roof-support jacks remotely.

A pull rope can be rigged to trip the jack from a safe distance. Then the same rope can be used to drag the jack out of the area.
