Medical Alert Information

Safety Something YOU can live with!

Medical Alert Information Miners that require prescription medications or have existing medical conditions should have medical alert information on their person in the event of an emergency. Medical alert information is critical for first responders to determine appropriate treatment. If first responders do not know medical conditions or medications, the treatment provided could result in complicating the emergency situation, and could even result in death.

MSHA's Medical Review Officer recommends that miners should keep a week's supply of medications with them (please see: Prescription Medication Tip). Miners can put a sticker inside their hardhat like the one shown above, or use any other appropriate notification for first responders.
