When a job requires moving machinery in a confined area where others are in close proximity, designate one person with the sole responsibility of communicating with the machine operator. With only 1 person communicating to the operator, focus will be on the specific communication, as opposed to others whose actions may be misunderstood.

- Ensure that nothing moves without Lefty's instructions.
- Anyone can call a halt to operations, but only Lefty can start things moving again.
- Machine operator stops the operation if Lefty is giving confusing signals or something unanticipated happens
