Powder River Basin Safety acknowledged by the National Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association.

The Powder Basin Safety Association and the Powder River Basin District Holmes Council of Gillette, WY has been acknowledged from the National Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association during the annual conference and award presentations June 24, 2004 in Wheeling, WV. The Powder River Basin Holmes Council received the prestigious recongnition for Surface Coal operations in Group 1. The council attained the lowest injury incidence rate nation wide while amassing 8,221,183 man hours for the year 2003.

The local council was presented the National Award at their monthly meeting 07/14/2004 in Gillette attended by thirty Chapter representatives. Assisting with the presentation was Don Gibson, MSHA District 9 Coal Field Office Supervisor and Educational Field Service Training Specialist Geoprge Nadzadi, Rapid City, SD.

Acepting the award for Powder River Basin Holmes Council was Richard Burns, President, Robert Phagan, Vice President and Charlie Messenheimer, Secretary / Treasurer.
