Mine Rescue Contest

• The Illinois Mining Institute and the Illinois Mine Rescue Association held their annual Mine Rescue and Bench Contest Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Springfield, Illinois. Fifteen teams from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Alabama competed in this year's annual event.
           The first, second, and third place winners for each competition are listed below:
  Mine Rescue Competition
  1. Webster County Coal, LLC, Dotiki, Nebo, KY
  2. Bluegrass Coal Company, Bluegrass Mine Rescue Team, Clay, KY
  3. Peabody Energy-Arclar Co., LLC, Willow Lake, Equality, IL
  Bench Biopak Competition
  1. Highland Mining Company, Highland Mine, Morganfield, KY

  3. Bluegrass Coal Company, Bluegrass Mine Rescue Team, Clay, KY
  Bench BF174A Competition
  1. The American Coal Company, Galatia Mine, Harrisburg, IL

  3. Webster County Coal, LLC, Dotiki, Nebo, KY
         

• The R. E. Jones Mine Rescue Contest was held in DuQuoin, Illinois on May 11, 2006.
          The American Coal Company, Galatia Team, Galatia, Il, took 1st Place in the Mine Rescue Competition, and Big Ridge Inc, Willow Lake Mine Team, Equality, IL placed 2nd.

• The 2007 Indiana Mine Rescue, Bench Contest, and Preshift Examiners competition was held Wednesday and Thursday, June 6-7, 2007, at the Vincennes University, Vincennes, Indiana. Sixteen teams from Kentucky, Illinois, and Indiana competed in this year's annual event.
