COAL MINE FATALITY - On January 11, 1995, at 11:15 p.m., a car dropper with eight years mining experience was fatally injured in a powered haulage accident. The victim and a co-worker were dropping five loaded railroad cars from the loadout facility onto a sidetrack where other loaded railroad cars were parked. The victim apparently fell onto the track and was struck by the rear wheel of one of the loaded railroad cars, resulting in fatal injuries. This is the second coal mine fatality in 1995. As of January 11 last year, there had been one fatality. This death is the second classified as POWERED HAULAGE in 1995. Line drawing of the accident sceneFor more information: |
