COAL MINE FATALITY - On Friday, May 12, 1995, a shuttle car operator was fatally injured when he was struck by another shuttle-car. The #3 shuttle-car operator (victim) had completed discharging a load of coal at the feeder located in the No. 3 entry. During the return trip to the face, the loaded #2 shuttle-car came out of a crosscut into the No. 3 entry hitting the #3 shuttle-car broadside. The #3 shuttle-car operator was pinned in the operator's deck by the #2 shuttle-car.

This is the 15th coal mine fatality in 1995. As of May 12 last year there had been 18 fatalities. This death is the eighth classified as POWERED HAULAGE in 1995.
