COAL MINE FATALITY - On Saturday, September 2, 1995 at about 8:20 a. m., a coal truck driver with 8 years mining experience, was fatally injured. Working for an independent contractor trucking company, the truck driver was operating a loaded coal truck, descending a steep section of haulage road. The truck crossed the center of the roadway and struck a series of steel poles installed as a barrier at the edge of the roadway. The truck overturned fatally injuring the driver.

This is the 28th coal mine fatality in 1995. As of September 2 last year there had been 33 fatalities. This death is the 11th classified as POWERED HAULAGE in 1995.
