COAL MINE FATALITY - On Monday, September 11, 1995 at 10:40 a. m., a D9H bulldozer operator, with over 12 years of mining experience, began moving coal from the raw coal stockpile to an area above the No. 10 hopper. During the process, a cavity hidden beneath the surface of the coal pile above the No. 10 hopper collapsed. The bulldozer slid backwards into the cavity where loose coal covered the dozer, suffocating the bulldozer operator.

This is the 29th coal mine fatality in 1995. As of September 11 last year there had been 33 fatalities. This death is the fifth classified as MACHINERY in 1995.
