METAL/NONMETAL MINE FATALITY - On February 3, 1997, a plant operator was killed at a sand and gravel operation. There were no witnesses to the accident. The victim was found under a pile of material deposited on the conveyor tail pulley. This is the seventh fatality reported in calendar year 1997 in the metal and nonmetal mining industries. As of this date in 1996, there were two fatalities reported in these industries. This is the third fatality classified as powered haulage in 1997.
