METAL/NONMETAL MINE FATALITY - On January 10, 2000, a 44-year-old truck driver with 10 weeks mining experience was fatally injured at a sand and gravel operation. The victim was greasing fittings while working from the elevated bucket of a front-end loader. The loader operator accidentally bumped the tilt control, causing the victim to be squeezed between the bucket and the machinery.

• Persons should not work from mobile equipment in a raised position until it has been blocked to prevent it from rolling and the raised component secured to prevent movement.
  
  
• Persons should not be transported in buckets of mobile equipment.
