This is the 40^th fatality reported in calendar year 2000 in the metal and nonmetal mining industries. (On 8/8/2000, the Fatality Review Committee determined that fatal no. 8 on 2/21/2000 was not chargeable). As of this date in 1999, there were 47 fatalities reported in these industries. This is the 11^th fatality classified as Machinery in 2000. There were six Machinery fatalities in the same period in 1999.
