METAL/NONMETAL MINE FATALITY - On April 2, 2001, a 48-year-old working foreman was fatally injured at a crushed stone operation. The victim was operating a bulldozer in the pit when material slid from the highwall, covering the bulldozer.

This is the ninth fatality reported in calendar year 2001 in the metal and nonmetal mining industries. As of this date in 2000, there were nine fatalities reported in these industries. This is the first fatality classified as Machinery in 2001. There were two Machinery fatalities in the same period in 2000.
