METAL/NONMETAL MINE FATALITY - On April 22, 2006, a 53-year-old utility operator, with 33 years mining experience, was fatally injured on the surface of an underground limestone mine. The victim was walking near the railroad tracks when a front-end loader ran over him. ![]()
This is the 8th fatality reported in calendar year 2006 in the metal and nonmetal mining industries. As of this date in 2005, there were 9 fatalities reported in these industries. This is the 3rd Powered Haulage fatality in 2006. There were four Powered Haulage fatalities in the same period in 2005.
