Material Handling Injuries

Manual material handling injuries account for about 35% of all mining injuries at surface locations.

Manual material handling accounts for a major portion of accidents.

Note:

It is not feasible to accurately determine the number and percentage of injuries resulting from mechanical material handling, because of the way in which injuries are classified. General experience and common knowledge indicate that the number would be fairly large.
