Note: A sequence of drawings is shown depicting how the weight of a forklift can cause the nose of a trailer to tip forward, and how this can be prevented with a jack stand. Photos of jack stands and of the nose of a trailer are also shown.

Powered industrial truck drivers should inspect not only for chocked rear wheels but also the condition of the trailer’s floor prior to driving on it. If it is in poor condition, the trailer should not be entered with a lift truck.

Also, jack stands may be needed under the "nose" of trailers without attached trucks to prevent them from tipping forward.
