Risk Assessment
As with manual handling of materials, risk assessment can be a valuable tool for mechanical handling tasks.

Note: General notes on risk assessment from the "Manual Handling of Materials" section are repeated below in case you didn’t use that section or would like to review.
Risk assessment can be a big complex process, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s really nothing more than a careful examination of what, in your work, could cause harm to people, so that you can decide whether you have taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm.
It pays to "step back," think, and look at material handling jobs. It can help prevent injuries in new jobs, and can also give you some fresh insight into the "same old" jobs.
Risk assessment should be a continual process. Things change. New hazards may be introduced. Improved methods may be discovered or may become available.
