When debris is dropped through holes in the floor without chutes, enclose the drop area with barricades at least forty-two inches high and at least six feet back from the edge of the opening. Signs warning of the hazard of falling materials should be posted at each level.
Use an enclosed chute when you drop material more than twenty feet outside of a building. Enclosed chutes protect people from falling or flying material.
