Federal Mine Safety Chief to Discuss Quecreek Rescue
ROANOKE, Va. -- Federal mine safety chief Dave D. Lauriski will discuss the Quecreek mine rescue and the future of mine safety and health in the keynote session of the 33rd Annual Institute of Coal Mining Health, Safety and Research being held in Roanoke, Virginia on Monday, August 12. Lauriski led the Federal team at Quecreek that supplied the rescue capsule, other key equipment, technical advice and leadership. President George W. Bush recognized Mr. Lauriski's contribution when the President met with miners and rescuers last Monday. Media availability will follow Mr. Lauriski's remarks.
