Head of Mine Safety Agency to Visit Southwest Va., Coal Mine
NORTON, Va. - Dave D. Lauriski, assistant secretary of labor for mine safety and health, will visit the Paramont #26 coal mine in Wise County on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003. Lauriski will meet with approximately 50 mine workers beginning at 3 p.m. A tour of the surface facilities will follow.
Paramont won the prestigious Sentinels of Safety award in 2002 for achieving the highest number of employee work-hours at an underground coal mine without an injury that resulted in lost time from work (175,582 hours).
