      Q. Is there any leeway in Nationals for stepping through intersection without checking?
      A. Rule states that the sound and vibration method must be made as soon as the captain discovers the placard. Team members may be in the intersection prior to the test being made. (Captain must address all placards in the intersection before breaking the plane in any opening.)

    Rule 23 - Posted 05/11/2009
      Q. Longwall face - roof and face check for this area?
      A. Treat a longwall face just like any other face (see Figures in rules)

      Q. All judges should get "uniform" in when they turn placards over after a gas is cleared.
      A. The placards will be turned over as soon as the ventilation change is made. The team does not have to take another gas check before the placards are turned over.

      Q. A team removes gas placard by ventilation - go inby and coming back over placard - do they have to make gas test each time they pass placard?
      A. Unless they make another change to ventilation that affects this area - the first test made is sufficient.

      Q. If bringing patient out under oxygen do you have to make gas check at placard?
      A. Yes, you have to check if a ventilation change was made.

      Q. Does the man making these tests have to stop to make these tests?
      A. No, as long as all gases are checked before the entire team passes the placard.

      Q. When making gas check at placard - does the person making these checks have to yell out contents on placard?
      A. No, the team only has to verbally state the checks being made.

      Q. On examinations after re-entry into area - if team member is moving how can you make at placard?
      A. As long as all gases are checked before the entire team passes the placard, the team would not be discounted.

      Q. Extent of gas. For a gas to be over top of overcast, does there have to be a placard indicating gas for it to continue (as in past).
      A. Placard must be on the floor/ground touching the wall to get gas to go over the wall, if the wall is intact and airtight. See accompanying drawings.
