METAL AND NONMETAL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MINE RESCUE CONTEST
AUGUST 20-22, 2002

REGISTRATION:

     Pre-Registration: The enclosed Team Entry Form must be returned by July 20, 2002, to ensure your team's listing in the official program. Early entry is encouraged to assure accurate planning and smooth coordination for the Competition.

     Registration: Registration for all Contest participants will be held on Monday, August 19 at the Reno Hilton Hotel, lower level, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Teams will draw for position for the preliminary field competitions at the time of registration.

COMPETITION

     All written tests will be given to all participants prior to the preliminary field competition on Tuesday, August 20 at the Reno/Sparks Convention Authority. Preliminary National field competitions and the International field competition will be conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 20 and 21, with the final competition on Thursday, August 22. Teams not working the field problem will compete in the bench, gas and first aid competitions on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 20 and 21.

BANQUET

     Banquet: The awards presentation banquet will be held in the Reno Hilton Hotel Pavilion on Thursday, August 22 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be open seating.

     Banquet Tickets: The cost of the banquet will be $30.00 per person, which includes tax and gratuity. Checks for banquet tickets must be received before July 30. Ticket purchases can not be guaranteed after that date.

Due to the relocation of the MSHA Headquarters Office prior to the Contest, and in order to avoid the misdirection of your team entry form or banquet ticket form, it is imperative that you use this post office address for the Contest and not the MSHA address you already have on record.

     Banquet tickets will be distributed during registration at the Reno Hilton on August 19.

HOTEL RESERVATIONS

     Room reservations are the responsibility of each individual team. However, for the convenience of the participants, a block of rooms has been set aside at the Reno Hilton Hotel, 2500 E. Second Street, Reno, Nevada, at a special rate of $55.00 plus tax, double or single occupancy. If you choose to stay at the Hilton, please call the room reservations department at 1-800-648-5080, identify yourself as being with the MSHA02 group, and present a credit card guarantee. The cut-off date for room reservations at the $55.00 rate is July 10, 2002.

SHIPPING EQUIPMENT

     Information on shipping equipment will be sent to you at a later date. .
