WALTER (Walt) BRYANT


In 1970, Walt began his mining career at Morton Salt's Grand Saline Mine and is still working there. He joined the Mine Rescue Team in 1972. From 1973 through 1975, his team participated in three Regional Contests and in the very first National Metal and Nonmetal contest, his team took first place. Over the years, Walt has served in various ways to make Morton's Mine Rescue Program successful. He has held the position of Team Captain, First Aid Specialist, Benchman, and in recent years, Team Trainer. He has always been a staunch supporter of the Regional and National Programs where his teams have participated in 30 mine rescue contests, including this year's National Contest.
