Debbie Tomko and Vance Rumbaugh from MSHA's Technical Support, Dust Division visited Gastonville Elementary Center in Finleyville, Pennsylvania to speak about mine safety through the "Stay Out - Stay Alive" program. They spoke with 2nd and 5th grade students about the many dangers that various types of mines present and their experiences when entering mine facilities. They also showed the students the protective gear that is used at the mine and talked about the training received to perform their jobs in a safe manner.
