A New Jersey woman who was driving an ATV Sunday from the scene of a friend's crash, injured herself in a mountainous area south of Trevorton known as the 'sand Tracks. State police say the 28 year-old victim from Annandale, NJ, was driving an ATV on a dirt trail in the stripping areas owned by Reading Anthracite off Route 2044, when the vehicle's tire struck a large rock. She lost control and was thrown from the ATV and injured her knee. Cordes, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by private vehicle to the hospital, where she was treated and released.

She had been riding with a male friend, 48, of Asbury, N.J., who was injured in an ATV crash at the 'sand Tracks´┐Ż who had to be flown by Life Flight to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition Monday. The victim was on a steep downhill dirt trail when he lost control of his ATV and was thrown from the vehicle, according to State police.

The woman was on her way back to a campsite to rendezvous with her friends after the man's accident in order to gather and travel to the hospital together. Their crashes occurred about 30 minutes apart, police said, between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. A Trevorton Fire official said the male victim's accident occurred a mere 100 yards from where a 57 year-old Halifax woman was fatally injured in an ATV accident Saturday.
