December 22, 2008

A 45 year-old man from Mexico fell 35 feet into an abandoned mine shaft in southeastern Arizona.

The man, unable to move because of his injuries including a possible broken hip, was rescued by Border Patrol search and rescue and Cochise County Sheriff’s Department who rappelled into the mine shaft.

The victim, who doesn’t appear to have sustained life threatening injuries, was taken to a Tuscon hospital for treatment.
