03/20/2009 Teen Slips into Quarry A daring rescue by crews in Hamden, Connecticut as a free climber found himself in trouble. Firefighters were called to Sleeping Giant State Park just after 5 PM Friday. A 19-year-old Quinnipiac student got stuck in the quarry area after slipping down a rock face. Crews wasted no time getting to the young man. One firefighter rappelled down the quarry and put a harness and helmet on the climber before moving him to solid ground. Facing a dangerous situation themselves, rescuers were well prepared. The climber was fortunate to only suffer a minor injury to his wrist. The climber was given a citation for disorderly conduct.
