Mans In Wheelchair Falls Into Quarry

Firefighters rescued a 50-year-old man after he lost control of his wheelchair and fell approximately 25 feet into a rock quarry on Saturday, a Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District spokesman said.

The man sustained no significant injuries, said Battalion 14 Chief Bill Daniels.

The incident occurred just off the bike trail near Sunrise Boulevard, on the American River.

The man's friends called the firefighters immediately, and he was rescued approximately 30 minutes later, Daniels said.
