January 31, 2011 Man Falls to Bottom of 200 Foot Deep Abandoned Mine Shaft A California man had to be rescued after falling to the bottom of a 200 foot deep mine shaft. The victim broke his leg after falling slipping from a ladder and falling between 70-120 feet to the bottom of the mine shaft. It took county firefighters 45 minutes to rescue the victim who was treated at the scene and then transported to a nearby medical center. Source: Victorville Daily Press |
