Police are investigating how a 46-year-old Nashua man died in a swimming hole off Route 111A. Mark J. Winslow, of 56 Tyler St., was swimming with a friend, and apparently drowned or suffered a medical problem, said Police Chief James G. Downes. His friend found him a short distance from shore after he went missing for a few minutes. "Bystanders started medical treatment right away as it was reported to us," Downes said. Nashua Fire Department paramedics arrived and also performed unsuccessful emergency resuscitation efforts. The property is a former gravel pit that straddles the Dunstable-Nashua border, Downes said.
