July 8, 2008 Man Falls 350 Feet Into Mine A North Carolina man was fatally injured when he fell 350 feet into a Vance County mine. The victim apparently entered the mine property through a locked gate while the mine was closed for the July 4th holiday. After entering the property, he traveled along the edge of the quarry highwall to a small platform used for a water pump pipe, where he fell 350 feet down the pit face high wall. |
