A 56 year-old man drowned Sunday while swimming in a flooded quarry in an Osage County, Oklahoma quarry.

The victim, who went swimming during a fishing trip, went under water about 6:25 p.m. and never resurfaced.

Rescue squads scoured the area Sunday night but called off the search when it became too dark to see, troopers said. They returned to the quarry Monday and found the victim’s body about 9:50 a.m. Rescue teams recovered the man’s body about 30 feet from shore in 11 feet of water.
