A 22 year-old Tennessee man drowned in a South Knoxville quarry while swimming with friends

Volunteer rescue squad divers recovered a body Friday in the quarry at South Knoxville's Fort Dickerson Park.

The body was spotted with an underwater robot. It was found 197 feet below the surface, according to Marian O'Briant, spokeswoman for the Blount County Sheriff's Office.

Officials got help from four special certified divers with Rhea's Diving Services of Maryville for a recovery operation.

Crews had been searching for the victim since he went into the water to cool off last Sunday and never resurfaced.

The Knoxville Volunteer Emergency Rescue Squad used a combination of underwater cameras, K-9 Search & Rescue, divers and sonar to search for the victim.
