Man Jumps Into Water-Filled Rock Quarry

A 32 year-old man was fatally injured after jumping from a 60 foot high ledge into a water filled rock quarry. The victim was camping with friends who saw him jump from a 60 foot high ledge into the quarry. The friends say they saw the man float face down before sinking underwater. They jumped in after him but were unable to find him.

The Ticonderoga Police Department was assisted in the investigation by State Police, state forest rangers and the Essex County Office of Emergency Services. The State Police aviation unit from Albany assisted with a helicopter during the recovery effort because of the remoteness of the site.
