06/30/2002 An Ohio man apparently drowned after tiring while swimming at an eastern Jefferson County, Ky., limestone quarry where 25 young people had gone to escape the heat. The 22-year-old victim was pulled from the water by friends, who were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation when rescuers arrived. Most of the quarry is surrounded by a fence topped with barbed wire, but company employees and county police occasionally have to run off trespassers. (Source: Louisville Courier-Journal) |
