Two 22-year-old men, both hearing impaired, drowned in an abandoned quarry in Lancaster City, Pa. The men, who were enrolled at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf in Pittsburgh, had jumped into the water to help four friends they mistakenly thought were drowning. After jumping in, they immediately started pulling on each other and went under the water, whose temperature was estimated at 41 degrees at the bottom of the quarry. (Source: Lancaster New Era)
