An early morning gathering at an area rock quarry turned tragic, when a young Fort Scott, Ks., man died while swimming with friends. The Bourbon County deputy sheriff said the 21-year-old victim was transported to the hospital shortly after being taken from the water at an unidentified rock quarry. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital. (Source: Fort Scott Tribune)
