A man who was fishing at an Indianapolis, Ind., gravel pit died in an apparent drowning. The 49-year-old man was fishing with a friend when his line apparently got stuck on something, said a spokesman for the local fire department. When the man waded out about 12 feet in the muddy water to try to untangle the line, he encountered a dropoff on the river bottom and went underwater. He likely could not see that he stood on a shallow ledge that dropped off sharply into water nearly 100 feet deep, said authorities. The man's fishing partner called for help, and emergency authorities recovered the victim's body. (Source: Indianapolis News/Star)
