The 1984 Wilberg Mine Disaster Memorial

In Castle Dale, Utah, there is a memorial to the twenty-seven miners that lost their lives in a tragic mine fire in the Wilberg Mine. The tragedy occured December 19, 1984 around 9:00 in the morning as a result of an air compressor fire at an air compressor station at the mouth of the 5th Right longwall section of the mine. Twenty-eight miners were present, only one survived.

The memorial's creator, Mr. Gary Prazen, is pictured with the memorial.
