Following the banquet, trophies were presented to the winners of the mine rescue, first aid, bench and pre-shift contests. Appreciation plaques were presented by the Institute to two gentlemen, Ray McKinney, Administrator for Coal Mine Safety and Health and Frank Linkous, Chief of Virginia DMME's Division of Mines, who have been in the forefront in support of mine rescue in the state of Virginia.
