District 5 - Coal Mine Safety and Health
Holmes Certificate of Honor
On Thursday, May 27th, 2004, Mr. Jessee Albert "Pops" Griffith was presented a safety award from MSHA during a mine visit by top management from District 5 for his safety accomplishment in coal mining. Mr. Griffith has accumulated in excess of 41 years of coal mining service without incurring a lost time injury. Later that evening, he was also recognized with a Holmes Certificate of Honor at the regular quarterly meeting of the Lonesome Pine Council of the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association. The meeting was held at Fishtales Restaurant in Norton, Virginia. Approximately 50 individuals were in attendance for the meeting, including area mine rescue teams. |
