On December 6, 2007, Mr. Gail Stiltner was presented with a safety award from MSHA, District 5 for his safety accomplishment in coal mining. Mr. Stiltner has worked 54+ years in coal mining without incurring a lost-time accident. Top Management from District 5 traveled to the mine site and presented the award to Mr. Stiltner in front of his co-workers and members of mine management.

On Thursday, March 26, 2009, he was also recognized with a Holmes Certificate of Honor at a meeting of the Lonesome Pine Council of the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association. The meeting was held at Fishtales Restaurant in Norton, Virginia. Approximately 50 individuals were in attendance for the meeting, including Mr. Stiltner's wife, sons and grandson. Again, we would like to commend Gail on his exceptional accomplishment in coal mine safety.
