On Friday, September 3, 2004, Mr. Noal B. Lambert was presented a safety award from MSHA for his safety accomplishment in coal mining. Top management from District 5 traveled to the mine site to surprise him with the award. Mr. Lambert has accumulated in excess of 34 years of coal mining service without incurring a lost time injury. On Thursday, September 16th, he was also recognized with a Holmes Certificate of Honor at the regular quarterly meeting of the Lonesome Pine Council of the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association. The meeting was held at Bonanza Restaurant in Norton, Virginia. Approximately 30 individuals were in attendance for the meeting, including Mr. Lambert's son and supervisor at Champion Coal Company.
