On Friday, March 31, 2006, Mr. Phillip Lane was presented a safety award from MSHA for his safety accomplishment in coal mining. Top management from District 5 traveled to the mine site on his last day of work before retirement to present him with the award. Mr. Lane has accumulated 50 years of coal mining service without incurring a lost time injury.

On Thursday, April 13th, he was also recognized with a Holmes Certificate of Honor at the regular quarterly meeting of the Lonesome Pine Council of the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association. The meeting was held at Prime Sirloin Restaurant in Norton, Virginia. Approximately 35 individuals were in attendance for the meeting, including members of Mr. Lane's family. Again, we would like to commend Mr. Lane on his exceptional accomplishment in coal mine safety.
