NMA/MSHA Approval Workshop

    Please Note: The workshop scheduled for May 21 has "sold out". An additional day (May 22) has been added for this workshop.

    The National Mining Association (NMA) and the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) will conduct a workshop to educate and assist mining product manufacturers with the MSHA approval application process. Approval and Certification Center investigators will provide an overview of the MSHA approval process, discuss specific program area requirements, and provide helpful tips to facilitate and expedite the MSHA approval process.

Joseph A. Holmes Conference

      The Great Escape Lodge is situated in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains in Lake George, NY. The Adirondack Park is also the largest park in the continental United States with approximately 6 million acres. Lake George itself is a 32-mile lake surrounded by pine-covered mountains and are located next to I-87, and is the southern gateway to the Adirondack Park.

2008 Metal/Nonmetal National International Mine Rescue Contest
July 15-17, 2008
Reno, Nevada
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) is pleased to announce the 2008 Metal and Nonmetal National Mine Rescue Contest to be held July 15-17 at the Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority in Reno, Nevada. We would like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to participate.

The contest will be comprised of four events: field competition consisting of a 2-day preliminary and a 1-day final competition (the top seven teams from day 1 and day 2), an apparatus benchman contest, a multi-gas instrument benchman contest, and a first aid contest. Each event will include a written examination.

For the first time, the Mine Safety and Health Administration in alliance with the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) and the International Association of Iron Workers will present a three-day Mine Construction and Surface Haulage Operation, Maintenance, and Repairs Seminar.

This new event combines the Mine Construction, Maintenance, and Repairs Workshop and the Surface Haulage Safety Workshop into one expanded, integrated format. The improved format is designed to help the mining community deal with the unique demands of construction, maintenance, repair and/or haulage on the surface of mining operations.

This tuition-free seminar provides opportunities for health and safety trainers to improve their training programs with new ideas and new materials.

Workshops

The workshops cover a wide variety of topics pertinent to both metal/nonmetal and coal mine trainers, such as:
