The Initial Job Task Analysis (IJTA) is a process that uses a facilitated focus group of experts to systematically develop a thorough job/job step analysis through a consensus process. The analysis is frequently referred to as 'Table Top Job Task Analysis' since the work could be done in a workshop format that does not require fieldwork.

The process is a very efficient and effective method of quickly determining the job steps that must be performed to effectively and efficiently perform a job. The expertise and field experience comes to the workshop through a carefully selected group of subject matter experts.
