Summary Of State Grants For Mine Mapping - Colorado

The State of Colorado received a grant of $51,000. They used the funds to digitize the mining extents for historic coal mining activity in the Somerset and Grand Mesa coal fields. These coal fields are located in the Uinta Coal Region on the western slope of Colorado near Grand Junction. The data can be found on their ArcGIS server site at http://165.127.23.93/drms_mines/ along with other active and historic mining data and information about their Abandoned Mine Land (AML) program. In order to view mining extents, the user must zoom in on the mapped areas.
